Customer Reviews
Beginnings of the best TV series ever!
What more can I say about Buffy the Vampire that hasn't been written already? Great characters. Sharp dialogue. Horror. Comedy. Drama. A twist of the hero/heroine role. From the start, Buffy the Vampire Slayer was the series to watch.
This boxset is where it all began. While the real stand out moments come later for me. (Jenny's death in Passion, Buffy killing Angel in Becoming, the transformation of the Mayor in Graduation Day, The Gentlemen of Hush, the heart-wrenching moments of the Body), the foundations are laid with series 1. From the start, the actors personify the characters we have all come to love. The dialogue is sooooo good, it makes me wish all TV was written this well. So many lines to quote, great pop references, the banter between Giles and Buffy is just electric. And while it is those big moments I mentioned that stand out across all seven series, it is easy to forget those moments that made series one outstanding. From the start...the blond girl Darla in the school transforming the vampire. What an opening! The first appearance of the Master. The Annointed one being the child no one saw coming. Angel revealed as a vampire. Giles discovering Jenny is a techno-pagan. And of course the fate of Principal Flutie in the Pack. It was that moment when I thought wow, this TV series will go THAT far! It keeps you on your toes every episode.
Twelve episodes of fun, action, horror and suspense. And personally I love the Amaray box set design. Sitting on my DVD shelves with these versions of series 2 and 3, they look great! And for such a low price...what's not to love?
