A remarkable view of a certain London underground, it helps to illustrate, with no unnecessary frills, the basis for a life in crime, away from the customary Hollywood template. For this viewer, it provides context for understanding why two convicted criminals may become symbols of an impoverished class' aspirations of escape- no moral trappings attached. Casting the Kemps was an inspired decision, for was surviving in pop ever the way for a quiet life? The attached documentary is direct and honest, a worthy addition to the package. However, the truncated 4:3 edition mercilessly spoils a good film, taking away much of the atmosphere and framework from the efforts of the actors, director and crew. Was there really no way to preserve its original format? A full revision of that issue is due. The transfer to DVD could also have been a bit more detailed. For this, or any other release, respect for the work at hand is essential. 3 Stars for it, 4 stars for the film.
