Description
Jason Bourne searches for his own identity after a bout of amnesia, leading him on a globe-trekking trip in which he must avoid the zinging bullets of cops and assassins who are out to stop him before he uncovers the truth.
The Bourne Ultimatum Review
Brace yourself for a flurry of action, espionage and drama as Jason Bourne is back on our screens. And what a return it is as Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass do their best to make the "Bourne" trilogy one of the best series' of the 21st century. This latest outing sees amnesiac assassin Jason Bourne (Damon) accused of spilling the beans on a new shady operation called 'Blackbriar' to a London journalist (Paddy Considine) and soon has a whole new batch of trained killers on his tail. However Bourne knows nothing about it but soon realises that Blackbriar might well hold the key to his past and, in turn, his true identity.
Intense, fierce and everything a good spy movie should be, "The Bourne Ultimatum" is a fine way to round out the trilogy. Questions get answered, various people get their just desserts and the tension is palpable. Damon is excellent as Bourne while the returning Joan Allen lends proceedings an air of austerity as CIA boss Pamela Landy and keep an eye out for a cameo from Albert Finney as a man key to Bourne's secrets.
But the real star here is the peerless action and claustrophobic atmosphere - you can almost smell the sweat as Bourne tears across the roofs of Tangiers and feel the danger as he battles close quarters with a would-be killer in a family bathroom. Throw in a blistering car chase through New York and you'll quite literally be hanging onto the edge of your seat by the fingernails.
James Bond, the ball is back in your court and the bar has been seriously raised. Let's see you top this!
