a fabulously absorbing cinematic treat set during the american depression of the 1930s.the film follows widow edna spalding played by oscar winner sally field in her attempts to provide for her family following the very sudden death of her husband.many hurdles are in her way but you know that this film will have a happy ending and i was not proved wrong.fabulous support from danny glover as farmhand moze who is fighting for survival himself and an early starring role for john malkovich as blind lodger mr will.places in the heart is 1 hour 47 minutes of drama,romance,courage and deep racial tensions.its a must see and i cannot recommend it highly enough...buy it now you will not be disappointed
