Description

Unscrupulous boxing promoters, violent bookmakers, a Russian gangster, incompetent amateur robbers, and supposedly Jewish jewelers fight to track down a priceless stolen diamond.

Snatch Review

So there's one diamond the size of a fist right, which is stolen by Frankie, a bloke with four fingers. So while this geezer Frankie's taking the diamond to New York he stops off in London to offload some smaller stones with a two timing git by the name of Doug the head. Doug gets this barking Rusky Boris the Blade to hire two bent pawnshop owners to rob the diamond off Frankie, while Frankie’s placing a dodgy bet. Meanwhile there’s this other geezer Turkish see, and him and his mucker Tommy are trying to have it large in the world of unlicenced boxing, which means they've got to do the dirty with the local Kingpin Brickyop. Everything's going pukah until Gorgeous George - Turkish and Tommy's fighter - gets knocked out by a gypsy up for the fight instead. Now Bricktop is far from happy about this and this is where things start to get complicated....you following?

The critics have had there knives sharpened and ready for Director Ritchie's second feature since the titanic success of his first, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. But this time Ritchie has has gone on to confound the critics in the best possible way: by making a movie that it is hard to find fault with. The scenes in the ring are the best that have been committed to celluloid since Scorcese's Raging Bull, the ensemble acting is flawless and extremely funny throughout, and the script & direction prove that Mr Ritchie is far from a one hit wonder.

If you enjoyed Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, you'll adore this. Do go and see.
