Description
Three of Hollywood's hottest female stars show us a good time in this uninhibited comic gem. Christina Walters (Cameron Diaz) and her party - hopping pals Courtney (Christina Applegate) and Jane (Selma Blair) are three sexy singles who love the night life. At the city's most exclusive dance club, Christina unexpectedly meets Peter (Thomas Jane), her perfect match. Discovering the next morning that he's left town, she and Courtney set out on a wild road trip to find him. But the road to Mr Right is paved with seductive surprises and hilarious misadventures.
The Sweetest Thing Review
"A romantic comedy - without the sugar" is how the publicity notes describe "The Sweetest Thing," but in truth it's more a case of "without the laughs - or even the romance.." Cameron Diaz returns to the genre of the gross-out comedy (aimed, for a change, squarely at the gals rather than the guys) but this movie is no "There's Something About Mary." Diaz plays Christina, a single young woman in San Francisco who has never found Mr Right but who has had a great time looking. But all that changes the night she's out on the town with her two bosom buddies Jane and Courtney (Selma Blair and Christina Applegate) and meets Peter (Thomas Jane). After deciding that he is 'The One' Christina and her gal pals set off to track him down, regardless of the fact that he's supposed to be getting married to someone else.
Four or five years ago gags designed simply to shock might have been more than enough to keep us all amused, but in these post Farrelly Brothers, "American Pie" days we really need our jokes to be funny too, and that's where "The Sweetest Thing" falls down: it simply wont make you laugh.
