Description
In this phychological horror, a young man narrowly escapes an aeroplane accident after seeing it in a dream. From then on, he is pursued by Death...
Final Destination 3 Review
Surely Death must bored silly of chasing teenagers who've managed to escape his icy grip thanks to premonitions and a slice of luck. But we're certainly won't get fed up of watching his antics if the "Final Destination" franchise stays as fun as this latest outing. While the previous movies saw our good-lookin', all-American teens escape plane crashes and motorway pile-ups, this time the action centres on a funfair and an ill-fated rollercoaster ride. When Wendy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) experiences a vision of doom while strapped into said 'coaster, she freaks out and begs her friends to get off the ride, Some do while some don't and Wendy watches in horror as her premonition comes true. But Death has been cheated and soon those who escaped are dropping like flies. Can Wendy and friend Kevin (Ryan Merriman) work out how to break the cycle and survive the Grim Reaper's attention?
While the first "Final Destination" was both innovative and exciting, the 2003 sequel felt rather weak in comparison. Fortunately this new instalment sees Glen Morgan and James Wong, the franchises' original writers and director, return - and what a difference they make. Packed with black humour, Morgan and Wong seem to revel in well executed deaths and they appear to be have been watching the cookery channel too as various characters end up baked, sliced, diced, mashed and skewered. Throw in some gratuitous nudity and a considerable gore rating and fans of the genre are onto a winner.
It goes without saying that if you didn't like the first two "Final Destination" movies, you'll hate the third. But if after a slice of tongue-in-cheek bloodthirsty fun that'll make you laugh as well as scream, then you should make "Final Destination 3" your first stop.
As with previous instalments in the series, this DVD comes jam-packed with bonuses. Highlights this time round include an audio commentary from director/co-writer James Wong, co-writer Glen Morgan and director of photography Robert Mclachlan and a whole bunch of featurettes but the real stand out is a 'Choose-Their-Fate' interactive feature which allows you to change the course of the film and the fates of the characters!
