The NXT 2.0 has 16 Guided Building and Programming Challenges for 4 Unique Robots and the quick start model.
To get you going there is a Quick Start model which allows you to build and program your first robot in under 30 minutes. With this model, you learn how to make your robots move.
Having built the Quick Start model, you naturally progress into the first building and programming challenge: the Shooterbot. You can build the New Colour Sensor into this robot. This clever gadget can act as a light sensor, meaning your newly-built robot can follow a line or shoot balls at anything that gets in its way.
Next, try building you very own robotic animal. The RoboGator is a fierce creature that acts like an alligator--protecting its area and lunging forward when objects get too close. This model introduces you to all three motors, together with the Ultrasonic Sensor. You can customise this beast with your own sounds.
Want to sort out your green sweets from your red sweets? Well now it's easy, thanks to the Colour Sorter. This robotic machine is a stationary mechanism that introduces you to new motor actions and teaches you how to use a single motor for two actions. The colour Sensor determines which part of the sorting tray receives each ball. The sorting tray can be replaced with a catapult that can shoot the balls in different directions depending on their colour.
New Software Features to Make Your Mindstorms Experience Better than Ever Before
The Sound Editor allows you to customise and personalise your Mindstorms robot by importing sound files. Or record your own via a PC microphone and load them onto your NXT 2.0 to make the robot speak with your own voice (or any funny sound you can think of).
The Picture Editor lets you import picture files or draw your own. Load them onto your NXT 2.0 and you'll be able to see them in the display. There is also be a big library of fun images stored in the software, ready for you to use.
Control your new robot through the Remote Control software without any special programming. Use the remote control function via a USB cable or wirelessly through your computer’s Bluetooth connection.
Once you've created all of the above, you can start experimenting with your own models.
And finally the ultimate robot to build is the humanoid, Alpha Rex. It walks forwards, turns and talks. It can see and avoid objects, grab them, recognise their colours and carry them around. You can customise it with your own sounds or even add your own images to the display.
With Mindstorms NXT 2.0 the possibilities are endless.
