New York becomes an urban playground in this open world action title from Activision with a superhuman twist.Though many games have given players the opportunity to explore the streets of New York, Prototype goes one step further, with players using the super powers of government experiment Alex Mercer to uncover every corner of the Big Apple. As a genetically mutated shape-shifter, Alex has no recollection of his past life, tearing through the city to discover the reason for his being and stop the spread of a mutating virus across the population.
Much like superhero titles such as Crackdown, players can bounce across the city with ease, storming up the sides of skyscrapers and destroying city blocks on a whim. Alex also has a unique shape shifting ability at his disposal, allowing him to consume the abilities and memories of his fallen enemies. Alex can lift vehicles, tear up lampposts and even disguise himself with the forms of those he’s consumed.
The Big Apple may be a common source for the gaming world, but with Alex’s astounding abilities at a player’s disposal the whole city has been opened up in ways not seen before.
